Continious learning as part of Action Research

Action Research


In action research the campus administrator engages in a systematic study of a particular educational challenge, that will ultimately refect change as a result of their inquiry. This research encompasses the collection and evaluation of relevant data and literature in order to make changes in strategies and objectives, to increase student achievement or solve a particular problem or challenge specific to the campus. Furthermore, this reseach will begin by the campus administrator and then will be shared with all stakeholders involved in the educational learning community. The research is further evaluated and analyzed by all stakeholders in order to bring about consensus to this new found strategies. Therefore, resolving a specific educational challenge through action research. In advocating for action research the administrator is seen as the head learner in the professional learning community.
The implementation of research based strategies are adopted from an outside source such as experts from universities, who have not have any contextual knowledge of the campus or the specific diversity or variables affecting the particular campus. Moreover, the traditional model also limits the ability of the principal to be the hear learner, inhibits the principal to actively engage in problem solving, and also supreses the voices or input of all stakeholders in the educational community.
